5 Errors that may be ruining your personal brand photos (and how to solve them)

If you have ever looked at your photos and thought“I don't see myself as a professional”“they don't represent me” or simply“I don't like them”, you may be making some key mistakes in your photoshoot,  either with me or doing them yourself or with another photographer. Although don't worry, if we work together, we are very careful to monitor them. 😉

But today I want to tell youMost common mistakes I have seen in photo shoots and how to avoid them, so that your images really convey the best of you and your brand.

 1. Photos without strategy: Not planning before the session

The most common mistake istaking photos without thinking about the purpose behind them. It's not enough that they are pretty, They must align with your brand, your message and your objectives.

Solution: Before your session, define:
What values do you want to convey?
What platforms are you going to use them on?? (Instagram, web, press…)
What emotions do you want your photos to reflect??

Who is your ideal client?

What differentiates you or what makes you stand out??

a goodImage bank helps you have photos ready for every occasion. In my sessions I always send a questionnaire to find out these details about you and prepare a strategy for your photo session.

 2. Choose clothes that you don't feel like yourself in

If you dress too formal or in colors that you don't use in your daily life, you may look uncomfortable and inauthentic in photos.

Solution:
Wear clothes that reflect your style and your brand.
Choose colors that go with your branding.
Avoid clothing with large logos or flashy prints (can distract). Although it is part of the style, don't cut yourself! Above all you have to be yourself.

 3. Stiff and unnatural poses

“And now what do I do with my hands?”?”If you have thought this in a session, peaceful, it's normal. But rigidity can make you look forced and not approachable..

Solution:
move: walk, play with accessories (mobile, agenda, cup…).
Interpret real situations: As if you were on a video call with a client or writing in your notebook.

Breathe and relax: your smile doesn't change when there is a camera in front of you. You are you and a camera or a photographer does not change that.. Let's bring out your authenticity and the best in you.

 4. Bad lighting

Bad lighting can make skin look dull, create unflattering shadows or take away professionalism from the photo.

Solution:
Whenever you can, uses natural light (but avoid the harsh light of midday).
If it is in study, make sure the lighting is soft and flattering and play with curtains and reflectors, or fill flashes.

 5. Not having a variety of visual content

Only face photos, only photos with a white background or only photos looking at the camera…You need variety to be able to play with your content.

Solution:
Mix portraits with action photos.
Includes B-Rolls (small video clips for Reels and TikTok).
Have detail images of tools you use.

Change your clothes and scenery several times during the session.

Bonus: Don't update your photos frequently

If you continue using photos from years ago, Your image may no longer represent who you are today.. Your brand evolves, and your photos should too.

Solution: If your style has changed, services or message, It's time to update your images.
